Joel Nueva
BAKER AND SARISARI STORE AND TALIPAPA OWNER

My name is Joel Nueva 39 years old, a resident of Cupang MUNTINLUPA City.

I started a rolling store in 2007, selling bread and pastries on the street near our house. I put up a bakery but since we live far from the streets, it was thru “padyak cart” a rolling cart moved by a single bike that I sell my bread.

I met Nanay Lolit, one of the JRF Supervisors to apply for financial assistance at JRF Dagdag Puhunan, so I grabbed the chance to do so. At first, it was only 5,000.00 then being a good payer, my loan value increased and rolled into 20,000.00, I ventured to sari-sari store , fresh meats and vegetables, school supplies and as my loan value increases, it became a grocery store , I put more products including selling gasul and snacks during summer time.

Putting up a business requires an initial capital. I remember the time that I was selling on the streets but when JRF Program made me one of its beneficiaries, I need not pay for loan which asks for interest because it is now a program of the city government of Muntinlupa who is backing up small time businessmen like us so in return we became more diligent and dynamic to expand our businesses.

This program really helped us, like in my case that I have siblings. At JRF Program, you don’t need to worry about its interest because it really asks nothing but pay for the principal loan amount. Second, they had taught us the value of savings and even aided and equipped us with entrepreneurial skills training and seminar to provide us proper knowledge on handling and managing our own business. The fact that our city government entrusted us with the loans derived from the general fund, it boosts our spirit to become even more responsible for paying our monetary obligations, so that on our succeeding loans, they will increase the amount of loan for business expansion.

First, the program is helping us much to expand our businesses and increase our income potentials each day. Second, we are thinking of branching out for another store.Third, it refrains us from thinking about where to get money to support our business because we have now JRF Program on our sides. It didn’t bother me anymore to look for an extra job for the income I get from the store is big enough from the salaries I had when I was still working. My financial obligations are getting bigger as my children grow. My expenses are also expanding because of my children’s education. With my business, I have found comfort because it is growing and earnings are good.

I am thankful to the Almighty Father and to our City Mayor for providing this kind of financial assistance project thru JRF Program to us, low-income entrepreneurs of Muntinlupa City. It has given us a huge opportunity as it tries to help us make our businesses grow in the industry. It has taught us how to save money and even taught us how to do business even thru our small beginnings and small capital. Thank you.

Natalie Vidal
SARI-SARI STORE,BAKER AND BARBER SHOP

I am Mrs. Natalia Vidal of Tunasan, Muntinlupa City.

My business started with only a minimal amount of capital and few selling products to offer. Then the need to allot for more capital became essential so I sorted from finding loan providers like 5/6 and other lending services. I got used to the system of continuous borrowing from loan sharks that even my profits suffered from paying my debts because all those borrowed money has high interests. Till such time I met an employee of Joint Resources Financing Program of the City Government of Muntinlupa and told me about the benefits of the program. It caught my interest that this program provides loan for business without interest, so one day I came to visit their office and applied as a loan applicant.

Looking back to the time that I wasn’t yet part of its beneficiaries, I really stumble a lot cause I depended much on the money from those loan providers, There were times that my store is becoming empty of products because of paying my debts and it can only recover for getting another loan to another lending. I thought I couldn’t get over that never-ending loan cycle with high interest.

The program is really a big help for me to the loaned amount has no interest. So gradually, my financial burdens lessen as I let go of all my debts because I happened to get bigger loans from JRF Program. Now, I only patronize the Mayor’s program for financial assistance for its Zero interest privilege and that counts all for me.

Elenge Tingal
SARISARI STORE AND PEST CONTROL DEALER

I am Elenge Tingal, 38 years old from Bayanan, Muntinlupa City.

I started my business by selling only ice pops, then gradually, invested selling candies and there on, I was able to roll my small capital and add more products like junk foods, soy sauce, shampoo and a bit of everything.

Previously we experienced hardships on paying our children’s tuition fees. Then, at the same time when our electric bill was just a sub-meter, it raised to the amount of 2,650.00. I really felt the financial burden for us just can’t raise the money we need and my husband’s salary couldn’t even accommodate our expenses thus we really need to look for someone who can lend us money even with interest.

Then I met the area Supervisor of Bayanan and learned about the benefits of Joint Resources Financing Program, So I joined and had my loan of P5,000,10,000 to 20,000. I tried to invest that capital from purchasing sellable grocery items. Then investment grows so I kept the capital rolling and allocated its interest in some things and moved to a bigger place because my business is expanding.

Having my business gives me higher income, I was able to avail my glass display cabinets, bought a new refrigerator and this helps us in buying useful things for us and the business. With the help of JRF program, I was able to send my children to a private school. My eldest sibling is now in Grade seven while the youngest is still studying in a private school, unlike before, we really have the hardship coping up with all our expenses, thus we often times borrowed money from some friends or loan providers of course with interest.

My business is expanding continuously from ice pops to groceries to school supplies to RTW where my loan extended up to P50,000 and now we are expanding to invest from pest control business with a loan value of P75,000. My husband and his group started its operation only last year but they already clients to serve so I’ll back it up with more capital.

I am really thankful to Mayor Fresnedi because his project is really a big help to Muntinlupenos who are now engaged in business. In behalf of my whole family, we are grateful that as we became part of the program, we unleashed from debts and able to live a simple life.

Our business helps us give our daily needs and able to support our day-to-day expenses. We have overcome our financial burden and it is all because of the help of our beloved Mayor.

I am also grateful because I became scholars of STAR Program of Coca-Cola Bottlers in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Thank you also to all the JRF Supervisors, for motivating us to grow as business professionals. And since I am one of the treasurers, I am helping the management in recruiting more business entrepreneurs to join the program for them to also experience what heads me on my life now.
